Our client is one of the largest financial services companies in Bermuda.
They currently require a Senior Database Developer/Administrator to add to
their I.T. team. This position will be responsible for managing, maintaining
and securing the corporate database environment and building a world-class
data storage system. A leadership role that will define the architecture of
the database and application development environment, mentor and direct
technical database and programming staff and consultants, consult other
business units on database issues, and manage database and programming-
related projects.

The role will develop, maintain, and extract value from an existing database
system, as well as evolve these systems to meet future needs.
Responsibilities include data analysis and reporting, query optimization,
data extraction, database tuning, system design, and capacity planning.
Proven skills as a data architect and lead developer are also required. The
individual will also be responsible for all MS SQL and Oracle DBA duties
including installation, configuration, tuning, and monitoring. Essential is
developing lights out database monitoring and backup strategy for all
database systems.

The successful candidate will possess a university or College education and
technical training in programming, systems analysis and database design and
maintenance.

Skills and Abilities:
Firm understanding of commercial relational database systems, preferably
Oracle and MS SQL server. Demonstrable competence in but not limited to the
following: C, C++, C#, XML and related technologies, MSSQL, Oracle RDBMS,
DB/400, Visual Studio, Delphi, Power Builder, Apache, IIS, COM/DCOM/ActiveX,
Windows 2000/XP, OS/400, Linix, TCP/IP. Exposure to and experience with
Oracle DEVELOPER 2000 including Oracle Forms and Reports would be an asset.

Ideal candidates will be highly portable with outside interests lending
themselves to Bermuda's idyllic and unique living environment.
