Ok, I believe that unless the obvious has been mentioned already, or it's already in the game, the thing to do would be to establish a slave brokerage.
This is not the old "capture and sell" thing; this is actually a true market for slaves and slave futures; eg, where one buys a slave, untrained, with the intent to resell; and persons can invest in the project. It of course allows tracking of slave values - which will fluctuate as to demand and supply, as well as training type, beauty, skills, rarity and of course, alterations.
BTW, as this is a virtual world, you may not be limited to meatlife bodymods. If magic exists, one can of course go into truly magical/extreme alterations.
Indeed, one could go much farther in meatlife with a different culture. for instance, removal of teeth, tongue grommeting, permanant depiliation, surgical removal of the larynix, permanant male chastisements of various sorts.
Btw, Wolf, can you give us a link to that game? Sounds fun. Oh, and this might be an idea as well: virtual clothing for slaves. I've actually done something like this in RL, one example here, http://tinyurl.com/5wk97; another here. http://tinyurl.com/5lm6j
If there is some sort of graphics capablity - or at least link-to-graphics capablity, you could design slave "livery" for owners. In actual practice, this was commonly done; some form of servant or slave uniform which would indicate household rank, duty and often relative value.
Oh, and collarmakers are another classic occupation.

Hi Bob! Always a pleasure to see you in your annual (or so) orbit past this neck of the woods.
