 | Absolutely !!
Seriously, being a sensible guy, I have decided that if I want to have coffee with a woman in the USA, I will have to convince her that I want to have , then trick her into having coffee. This all about objectification leaves us with a social scene where essentially no woman can be found who will respond at all to a man who is not looking for .
Sexism has consequences, freinds ! Society has been on this downward spiral for a long time, and it is in fact such no one can be found who likes to mingle, but it's easy to pick someone up (in a santicified place like a bar of course) like change off the sidewalk. Women have been objectified for so long that now all her self image and value goes into her utility as a object, she cannot relate to men who do not see her as a object (I've been trying for decades), and the response men have to this is to further objectify women as objects because in fact that is the only way they can have anything to do with women. I have tried to get women who ostensibly 'like' me to have coffee. No way in hell is it going to happen, because these same women will 'hook up' with the most lying players (I've seen it happen, this year a full 4 out of 6 refused me for coffee and within two weeks 'got with' a player I've seen lying through his teeth.
It is that bad her. We cannot even mingle, even in an 'intellectual' community. I am appalled that Americans imitate what the TV set tells them they are, and copy the message in the magazines. All these people with all these brains and yet no one can see what is happening and try to stop it ?
We cannot connect with people outside of the bedroom, and in that context, I sincerely doubt the bedroom connection could have any 'personal' component.
America is the hideous love child of the myths of past generations ! The woman from brazil (any one) will talk to me at once as a stranger and a brother ! The american woman acts, insistently in fact, like she has been groped when I utter pleasantries like 'how are you today'. We have so objectified each other that we now have no context in which to accept, understand, and participate in friendships. I cannot find a woman in this 'progressive'Massachusetts valley who can handle having coffee or - anything - except being picked up for , an I don't do that. My sister and Mom are intelligent, self assured women. How come American women are not this way too ? The media, the TV, the message everywhere reinforces behavior that becomes, as it has, the only song we know - and only . I would not put that on any woman, that she should think about before she can decide she really likes me personally, and no one can like anyone personally if you can't spend at least 5 minutes together in person, which I have found women will not do -- she thinks ''he doesnt want me'' ''I'm not attractive enough'' .. just because I have the SENSE not to chase anyone to the bedroom, yet the men who do chase women to the bedroom or backseat - do so with ease.
That is the america we have made -- by extension too whereever this **** touches the world via western influence. What kind of humanity do we have when we can't make personal friends, or get to have fun socially with each other, the only sanctified activity is the chase to the bedroom. I am sure that there is no chance I will ever have that cup of coffee with an American women. I've been trying for 27 years, count 'em, and I have not had one taker yet - - except for the times I flirted. You can go a decade without a knowing anyone here. What kind of world is that ?? Yet I can (and I have)pick up a women and have with her within 7 days, count 'em, if I just flirt -- well, because I respect mother and sister, I can't bring myself to flirt with women, as I'm always sure they could be as intelligent as them.
I have a message for you. You would not let me tell you who you are and how to be. Why then, is it ok to let the collective message, the culture, the summation of the me-s and you-s, define you 100% ??
As a man, and especially as a man who cannot access basic human interaction, I advocate going to the newpaper stand (the outdoor kind) with a can of gasoline and a book of matches. Be careful not to get any on the poor fool selling that junk (important).
Getting americans to want to play smart enough to address the problem, even if it means vast improvement in their quality of life, that is another matter.
Burn the TV studio. Let them know who did it. Burn the magazine stand. Let them know why.
Feminism is far from a woman's only issue. We share this world and it is only what we make it. Plucking ourself from the overwhelming ignorance we steep in today is another problem, but we did manaage to go to the moon, so dream on.

I'm afraid Smarty Pants is terribly intimidated by all those "successful" women he meets in his home town. I think his home town has a university in it, or maybe a hospital. I have this problem myself, but I have a lot of female friends. One of them even is a landscape architect. I believe he's right that the American "media" makes relationships between men and women a lot worse than they really are. I think the people who write those articles are either 1) cowed by their editors to exagerrate what they write or 2) a bunch of overidealistic, hypercritical Martha Stewarts who would be all over God like a cheap suit if they were around during the creation.
I wish I could hear from some women from a college town in Massachusetts about this.
