 | Blade Trinity (South African Release Date: 21 January 2005)
Rating: 5/10 Genre: SciFi / Vampire Warning: Violence, bad language and some ual content.
Director: David S. Goyer Cast: Wesley Snipes, Ryan Reynolds, Jessica Biel, Parker Posey
Realising they may never be able to defeat the vampire hunter known as Blade the Dayhunter (Snipes), the vampires who control the infrastructures of human society set Blade up to appear like a psychopathic serial killer, with the FBI soon on his trail, thinking he is some sort of horrible monster. The plan is successful, as Blade's ability to hunt vampires is limited severely, even as they have awakened the granddaddy of them all, Dracula (AKA "Drake"), a pure vampire with amazing abilities others do not possess. To take on the threat of this most powerful vampire, Blade accepts the help of a team of human vampire hunters called the Nightstalkers.
Curiously enough, because it is not my usual type of movie at all, I enjoyed this. Perhaps it had something to do with the fact that the person attending with me found it so appealing. It is definitely his type of movie - I think he must have spent his entire childhood reading popular Marvel Comics. It may also have had to do with the fact that I didn't find it frightening, other than the very scary fact that the vampires weren't the least plausible aspect of the movie. It was a bit gruesome in one place as one of the vampires was a messy eater. Wesley Snipes does a pretty good job as the Rambo type. The vampire toy Pomeranian is a hoot and the special effects work.
All in all the movie works on the level and for the audience for which it is designed.

"Shall we dance" left me with a real "feel good" smile. It got a higher rating from me than Blade Trinity did. The Star's critic reckons that it's time Blade fell on his sword. :-)
