However they are told to do as they would be done by.

Which means if they expect to be tolerated they should themselves show
tolerance.

Showing tolerance is _not_ the same as admitting they're wrong. It
means respecting the right of others to their beliefs because they are
just as sincerely held etc, even though they don't share them.
