Hi

Is anyone here using Nanosurf atomic force microscope(s)? If you are, I
was wondering what is the best lateral resolution you have obtained. I
would also appreciate it if you could tell me what kind of vibration
isolation you used for the high resolution measurements.

Hi Ranjan,
Is that the Easyscan? i haven't used it myself, but i spoke to a
colleague about it a while back, and he was able to get "atomic"
resolution with it. And i know he commonly demonstrated it on a
table(though i wouldn't reccomend that)...so in theory you should be
able to get very high resolution.

what are you trying to do, and what is your current vibration
isolation?
Pete.

Yes it the is the high resolution Easyscan AFM. Is your colleague using
the AFM or STM? The AFM is rated for 1 nm resolution and it is routine to
get 25 nm resolution on just a gel pad on an air-table which is what I
have as my vibration isolation right now. I can't afford to suspend it on
a tripod due to the nature of my experiment and I was wondering if there
is any other route to getting < 5 nm resolution. I'm trying to image 10 nm
grains on a polycrystalline material.
