 | I currently have a fisher micromaster metallurgical microscope for research purpose. It comes with a 40X objective, a pair of 10X eyepieces and a trinocular body. I want to take digital photo with it now. Can anybody suggest a good digital eyepiece? I don't need a large number of pixel, however, a big magnification is very important for me.
By the way, Can anybody compare the solution between using a digital eyepiece and other solutions like using c-mount digital camera. The later one seems having a lower magnification.

If you a buying a complete digital system there are lot of things to take into account.
If you just need a few pictures and already have have a digital camera it may be as simple as providing a stable support of the cameras over an existing eyepiece.
Let us know what need and already have access to and we can make a lot more reasonable suggestion.
Good luck Gordon Gordon Couger

An ocular camera will be cheaper than other options, e.g., trinoc ports. Resolution will be less and viewing via only one ocular may or may not be an issue. For better results, a digital camera mounted on a trinoc photo port is superior. However, the camera put on that port also makes a big difference--quality and cost. It really depends on what ultimate results you seek.

 | The main reason to choose a digital eyepiece is to save money. A decent c-mount setup is better if you can mount it onto your scope (requires trinoc port). The application will drive the choice of digital recording device. Magnification depends on the magnification of your objective, the relay lens, size of image sensor, and the way how you finally print/view the image.
