 | I recently acquired an inverted Nikon microscope.
It is an older one similar to this one....

What is this model and when was this model manufactured?
Could someone please inform me about what objectives, eyepieces and accessories were available for this scope.
What did the photo option for the scope consist of?
What was the tube length?
Is there any documentation on line for this scope?
Did it have any "weak" spots that an user should watch out for? Thanks for any information you can offer.

Nikon MS, in the 60s to 70s. Not too many about as inverted mics weren't as popular/required as they are today. > >Could someone please inform me about what objectives, eyepieces and >accessories were available for this scope.
The full range of S series objectives and eyepieces would fit. the condenser range is limited because of the working distance - unless you are looking at slides. Accessories were minimal. Lamps are still available from Nikon 6V 30W. External transformer req'd. The objectives are standard RMS thread.

Not a lot, a trinocular eyepiece tube would fit but the camera tube would hang down instead of up as on an upright s series. You could photograph down the eyepiece tube with a suitable adapter. > >What was the tube length? 160mm > >Is there any documentation on line for this scope?
Not that I know of but it's fairly straightforward to use and setup as all the components are fairly simple in operation.
Have a look in http://www.microscopyu.com/museum
which has similar upright s series microscope pictures. > >Did it have any "weak" spots that an user should watch out for? >Thanks for any information you can offer.
The fine focus spur gear could fail after about 10 years, they can still be purchased from Nikon, certainly in the UK anyhow. Other than that, a nicely made instrument of it's time which is still of good optical quality. > >TMT

 | I have one of these scopes, and it's fine for me, as a hobbiest. I have a CD copy of the catalog/parts descriptions for this and other "s" series (black) Nikons--they're all similar; it has lists of lenses and accessories that were originally available, and photos & diagrams. Email me if you're interested in a copy - bobmarable@earthlink.net. I'd need about $3 to cover US postage and a CD. Good Luck.
