 | I experience a lot of the same symptoms as hyperthroidism (overactive thyroid). However it seems I also cycle between that and hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid). A few things confuse me about that. For one, even when I feel hypo.. my face is still hot and my ears are still very red even though the rest of my body is cold and my hand tremor/weak thighs and decreased coordination persist. Another thing that gets me is just how rare this would be. It is rare enough to have a thyroid condition as a male, but also to cycle between them? It seems I am very fatigued for a few days like I am hypo and I sleep nearly 10-12 hours. Then for a few days I sleep for 6 hours and fatigued, but it's like I keep going and I have energy to burn off.
My concenration sucks.. my memory sucks... my common sense is gone... Sometimes I walk into the wall next to a doorway... and my hand tremor pisses me off. My wrists feel weak. I really notice them when I try to do something like type (like I go to hit a key and I hit 3 at one time with one finger.. I miss so bad). When I hold a pencil with two fingers my fingers shake.
My motivation is shot... conciously I want to be around people but I feel that I want to be alone alot (like I don't want to be bothered). I am constantly irritated and get angry easily around people I know. I am very forgettable and absentminded.
I am going to make an appoitment to see the doctor when he is in, but I am wondering what I might expect. I am 20 years old.. .since I was 16 or so... these things started out very slowly.. where I didn't pay much attention to them...

 | No, I do not take meds. I have never even seen a doctor before about problems I had because I never used to have problems. I would just go for a physical or to see about a sinus infection I never had before. So, I have no idea what to expect when I go. :-/

 | Hi, You sound exactly like me. Are you taking Tyroid Medications. They do not seen to help the situation but you need them if you have a Thyroid problem. I take Clorazapate only when needed and IM not kidding about meditation. Get tapes od cd's that appeal to you, listen to them at night or anytime you feel the need. It is such a Help. Keep in touch, there are things that really Help so much. Always, Michael

 | Hi again, it's something only someone who is living it can understand. Don't you find that even Doctors do not seem to get it. it's all so complicated. a few of us should start our own group about it. Always, Michael
