Bob Munck,
Fortunately for the LSE-CM/ISS tether(s), we don't require any spendy
R&D nor spendier CNT, as just those good old reliable and robust
basalt/silica fibers and composites from such are more than sufficient
for anything tethering the likes of ISS or even the massive LSE-CM/ISS
to the moon.

Best of all; I believe every continuous km worth of basalt/silica fiber
can be continually produced entirely by a robotic process situated upon
the moon. Thus no raw materials nor energy need be imported from Earth.
And somewhat exactly like you said, one fiber after another leads to yet
another and another, thus in no time at all we'd have those multiple
robust tethers with crawler pods going 24/7.
