 | Hello,
Hope this is the right group to post this but I am curious if there is such a device..
If I had a generic mini CMOS camera that has standard RCA video/audio cables connected to it ($50 kind you find at Fry's); and I wanted to directly connect the video to a portable recording device.. Such as a laptop hard drive (no laptop of course). So the device would essentially be an external hard drive case with RCA input plugs to connect the camera audio/video to it. Obviously, there would be need for some sort of analog to digital converter and video codec encoder etc.. I just don't want a large/expensive device to lug around (laptop or DVR) to record video from a small CMOS type camera. (being portable is what I'm looking for, not video capture cards for desktops etc..)
Does anyone know of such a device that would convert the analog video from the CMOS to convert it to any video codec onto a hard drive? The device doesn't need a display or anything; I'll view the video when I connect it to my computer later..
I've done some Google searches but don't seem to see such a thing.. I'd think lots of people would want something like this with all the mini cameras out in the market.
Maybe I'm being unrealistic in my wants.. :-P Thanks, Mike
