Last several days it has been bitterly cold. Almost tempted not to run
today but braved it anyway..

The problem... all bundled up from top to bottom the gear is light but
restrictive. Now I envy those in Florida.

Remember this when they are toasting, roasting and baking their
barnacles in those hot humid summer days. I don't relish the cold but we
can put on more clothes(to a point) to keep warm. When you down to bare
skin and sweating profusely just standing still, I'll take my seasons
and my layers. ;)

You know you live in a crap hole town, when you start envying people
from Florida.

With time and experimentation, you'll find the right combination of gear
that works for you without being restrictive. Many times it's a matter
of finding one functional layer rather than 2 layers that don't work as
well so the bulk is reduced. I've found some of the stretchy fabrics
really help. The gear I have now works much better than what I had 3 yrs
ago - has almost the same range of temperatures (haven't tested much
below 0F yet to know) and there's no restrictive feeling with it - at
least for running. You may also find your body takes 1-2 weeks to adapt
to the colder temperatures, same as heat acclimation.

But this is cold

They had about -20F and 70mph winds. (I didn't bookmark the first
stories and they're beyond the 7-day free archive now.)
The interesting thing is, this was probably a problem only because of
modern "conveniences".

Nah, I envy those in Juneau right now - about 3 ft of snow (although
weather said it was starting to turn to freezing rain).

Florida, a bunch of wetbacks who can't speak english, carrying switch blade
knives, diseased prostitutes, drug dealers and so on. We should dissect the
state from the main continent and send it back to Castro.
