 | Received word from a friend of mine that Variety magazine reported last week that Sumner Redstone (head honcho at Viacom) has said that the company may be looking to offload some "non-core" assets, including Paramount Parks.
A search for "Paramount Parks" on variety.com will turn up a snippet of the story (seeing the whole story requires registration).

 | What is even more scarier is that the park link from the Paramount homepage (http://www.paramount.com) is gone!
I have a friend who is looking more in to this, hopefully he can find an answer.

What is the general view on this idea? Apart from some interesting wood coaster maintenance, I have always enjoyed the Paramount Park experience. It will be interesting to see, if sold, how these parks would evolve. Kings Entertainment was good, but they built it from scratch.

Heh, Maybe good old Dan Snyder is sniffing around them now that he's out of the Six Flags debacle.

He would have been a step up for Six Flags, but I think it would be a step down for Paramount.

Too close to call from my view.
BTW, would **anyone** be a step down for Six Flags?

If they get away from the lame movie tie-ins and go back to REAL theming....I just cant see how PKI could be returned to...well, Kings Island. So much of the charm it had has been replaced by Hollywood glitz.

The new timeline for the Paramount Parks:
Year 1:
Six Flags Carowinds Six Flags Kings Dominion Six Flags Kings Island Six Flags Canada's Wonderland
and, of course ...
Six Flags Bay Area (Great America's taken. Oops.)
Year 2:
One train on all rides, and for those that can only operate one train .... shorter trains. New ride -- any upcharge attraction.
Year 3:
Aggressive new employment campaign brings in the official scum of the earth (or those poor, poor people who would be willing to kill themselves for $6/hour). New program -- introduce "new" fastpass. Only $20 per person per day.
Year 4:
Proslide Tornado attraction, since by then every Six Flags park will have one. New ride -- upcharge attraction. New program -- each park will have 70% of its rides closed at a given time, and it will become a mission to find out what rides will be open when.
Year 5:
Six Flags goes bankrupt. Cedar Fair saves the day.

I hurt myself reading this. Not because it is so rediculous ... no ... it's because it is so rediculous, yet true.
Couple additions:
- Season pass prices get dropped to $40 - Parking goes up to $20 - Menu is cut in half - Boomerangs for everybody
and then the rebrandings ... Top Gun --> Superman Vortex --> Viper Beast --> Roar Son of Beast --> Son of Roar

I thought I was a fanboy. But thank you for clarifying my novice technique, there, DJ.
Regardless, seeing you work Tremors with your pop at CAC goes way farther than a wisecrack from me though. ;-)
