 | For some time I have been shooting my .308 using a scope with target knobs. Aside from the rare opportunity to do some plinking, I do all my shooting at paper targets at 100 and 200 yds and never even adjust the scope as I am mostly interested in group size, how close to the target center I don't usually care. Just shooting for fun. When I bought the scope, I knew I wanted the target knobs, but in reality I have not used them.
As I start to think about using them on targets at varied ranges, I realize there has got to be some tricks to this besides the obvious being you turn the knobs to compensate for range and maybe wind. Can anybody recommend any books or internet resources? Any tips at all?
Thanks, --Dan

Hi Dan,
They are mainly used for correcting for windage and elevation from your known zero. If you are zeroed at 100 yards and the target is at 200, the target knobs allow you to make a quick minute of angle adjustment eliminating the need for "holdover" based on your ammunitions trajectory. Hope that helps. Try www.snipersparadise.com for more info on ranging and use of optics.
HTH.
