Hello,

We changed our dance schedule early last year but the changes seem not
to have propagated beyond our own websites. The authoritative source
for information about dancing on the southeast coast of Florida is
http://saturdaydance.com - website of the 2nd Saturday Davie Barn Dance
(west of Fort Lauderdale) with a link to the 1st and 3rd Saturday
dances in Lake Worth (Palm Beach county).

We are no longer dancing in North Miami or Fort Lauderdale. If you
maintain a website that lists our dances, please update your
information. Who knows how many people are wandering about looking for
these dances :-)

QUESTION: Is there a central location where schedule changes/additions
could be posted and from where dance schedule listers could
periodically update their information? It would be helpful.
Thanks,

Warren

One of the challenges for keeping topical web sites up to date is
whether the expectation is that those who maintain the web sites have a
responsibility to surf around looking to update URLs and other
information or whether those who maintain the specific sites listed on
the topical site have a responsibility to inform the topical site
maintainers. That's not something with a right or wrong answer, but the
question does indicate the difficulty of ensuring that all sites are
up-to-date (on the order of herding cats).

For the Davie Barn Dance site, I've been using:

http://www.fiddlers-grove.com/everglad.htm

which says it is the NEW SITE and has listings for 2005.

The site mentioned below:

http://saturdaydance.com

redirects you to:

http://pages.prodigy.net/marty_spencer/fiddlers-grove/everglad.htm

which appears to be the same site as the fiddlers-grove site (and also
says that it is the NEW SITE).

As for a central place to publicize changes so that folks like myself
(and other interested parties) are notified, this (rec.folk-dancing) is
as good as any place else. Folks like Ted Crane, Dwayne Johnson, Dan
Pearl and Bob Stein can then take that information and make changes on
their sites or else contact the person posting the info and tell them
how to make changes.
