 | I have been following 'comments on the horse" and it's outstanding in imfo and content. It would seem that the lizzard woman has got herself backed into a corner here. It is my opinion that the big gap between a good technical rider and a good all around horseman really come into play on the trail or maybe it is people who can look after thier personal needs versus people who can't. My little check list for her as to how handy she would be on the trail is:
Does your horse know how to hobble and tie on the hiline? Do you know which side to dismount if needed when crossing running water? Can you pull a twisted shoe and put back on if it happens on the trail? Can you repair a piece of equipment with a piece of twine and a pocket knife? Do you have the basic vet knowledge to care for injuries on the trail? If you bog your horse to belly depth do you know how to pull saddle and where to stand safe while getting him out?
Just a few for starters and I'm sure you all will have more to add. With respect to all Rose
