Interesting. I'm sure there are defineable gender based differences that can be identified. But, after you have done so, will there be a point?
Isn't it interesting that virtually ALL of the "big name" NH gurus are men? And that the vast majority of their followers are women? I wonder what what signifies? ;-)

Most cult leaders and hucksters (con men) are men, but I don't know why.
A case could be made that men are more likely to have inherent leadership ability, but I'm not going to try to make it.

I think we could most of us agree that, in general, men tend to be more competitive than women and less likely to take satisfaction in activity which has no clear cut goal/reward. Think Terry/Tom here, for instance, when it comes to horse use. Obviously this is only trends, as plenty of women are highly compeitive and plenty of men are laid back.
In the USA in the English riding world, men are so outnumbered that I often think that those who get into it tend to be really into it, enough to buck the sterotypes, and more likely therefore to make it a career. In other words, if boys go for ponies over motorbikes and stick to it through puberty, they are more likely to go all the way than a girl who gets and stays interested in horses; she would be following rather than fighting a sterotype.

And that the majority of professional trainers are men, but very few boys are in any of the shows? Where do they come from? Spring forth fully trained at 21? SueK

I think I remember this one -- the idea was to tie the stud down (throw him on the ground) and then urinate on him to show dominance. BARF ) think this is something only a male could do conveniently.
Lee Z -- not wanting to go there, even mentally!
Oh, PS -- there are the "elf sisters of the North" who are gurus of a sort on the female side, aren't there?
