 | Is it possible to subscribe to a newsgroup that isn't listed in the list? I ask because Opera always stalls (bad charset?) halfway through downloading the newsgroup list, at a particular point.

If you make up a properly-formatted URL, it might work. Something like
nntp:///
(I may have that wrong, I'm not very familiar with newsgroup URLs.)

Or by manually editing the newsrc file.
