 | Hi, since Opera 7.60TP4 there is a problem with the "to"-header. if i write to someone in my contacts list containing any of the so called umlauts opera sets the to header i.e. to "iesg--Schfer-dua, Jan ". if i send this message i get an error-reply.
does anyone know why opera do so? btw. my mail enconding is set to 8859-15. and it is the same problem with the new opera 8 beta.
thx Marc

I have the same problem, but additionally the problem that the names with umlauts are not quoted as are the other names.
Eg. when getting email from:
From: Mats Löh
and replying to it, it will result in:
To: Mats Löh
not as expected
To: "Mats Löh"
This is in version 7.56, and in version 7.6p4

Can you post the raw headers here? Go to your Sent view, find one of these messages, press 'c' while it's highlighted in the message view to copy it to the clipboard, and paste it into a post. The offending header should be unquoted and QP-encoded.

 | I've a similar problem (though not necessarily Operas fault):
I sometimes get Mail f=FCr several recipients, from someone who uses an = =
Outlook adress book. Usually, names in the "to" or "from" section are in= =
"quotation marks", since they are not part of the mail adress. Exception= : =
If the names contain =E4,=F6,=FC,=DF! In that case the adress that would= usually be "M=FCller, Heike" reads M=FCller, Heike
If I then answer to this mail, the komma is interpretet as a separator a= nd =
the answer is ssent to the assumed email adress "m=FCller", which is tur= ned =
into the well-known "iesg--mller....blabla" Interestingly, if I pick a name containing =E4,=F6,=FC,=DF and a comma f= rom my =
adress book and send a mail there, Opera puts Qutation marks around the = =
name, and all is fine. If I get a mail containing the same name and =
adress, I can't answer properly without hand-editing the adress (quite =
annoying if there are 20 of them, 4 of which need to be found and edited= ).
I think it's probably Outlooks Job to put the quotation marks where they= =
belong, but Outlook-Outlook-correspondence seems to work fine, =
nevertheless. -- so maybe Opera could detect such missing quotation mark= s =
and insert them? Would really make things easier!
Thanks,
Zak

Go to your mail folder and view accounts.ini in a text editor. Do you see a line like this one:
Allow 8Bit Headers=0

Of course, that is the From header, let me cc this to your listed address and we'll see if that works.
