 | I have a hosts file with a heap of advertising servers listed. With Opera 7.54 everything was fine. I've upgraded to 8.0 beta 1, and now I get a connection "hang" everytime Opera tries to resolve one of these advertising servers, with the message 'Connecting to remote host xxxx'.
I do not have the opera ad servers blocked, as was mentioned in another post.
Any way around this? It really slows my browsing down.

Smells like a previous bug. See

Maybe try selecting Synchronous DNS, to see if that changes the symptoms. (just a guess).
