 | This is getting tiresome and I'm wondering why I continue wasting time with Opera.
All I ask is the ability to print a webpage that bears some resemblance to what I see on the screen. Opera hasn't done that properly since the final 6.xx version.
I can't even get a decent printout of Opera's home page, http://www.opera.com. All I get is some chopped up mess with part of the text cut off and the panels on the right side of the screen appearing on subsequent pages, if at all.
I'm currently running Opera 8.0b1 under Fedora Core 2, (kernel 2.6.7-1.494.2.2) on a Pentium 4 i686 sytem, connected to an HP 4000 LaserJet (Postscript 2) printer. Gnome 2.6. QT 3.3.3-0.1
If there are some fonts or settings I need to tweak, please enlighten me.
Regards, Charles Sullivan (Registered user since Opera 4)

Yep. Sadly, 6.12 has its issues, too...

Just to chime in with my two cents, I have never, ever been able to produce reliable printing results with any version of Opera for Linux. I still try once in a while, when a new version comes out but, sadly, when I want to print a web page, my preferred browser won't cut it, and I must resort to Mozilla.
I dunno if it's an Opera issue or maybe a QT issue or what. I sure wish it wasn't an issue at all. :(

There isn't only QT problem. I'm running Opera also with Windows (same version as I have in Linux -- 7.54u1) and getting same problem :(

I seem to remember reading somewhere that it was a QT problem.

Then stop running betas and stick with a version which works for you.

Opera only uses Qt on unix. Some printing problems are in Qt, but those will usually just cause opera to not print anything at all. Most of the layout problems are in opera...

I don't know why Opera doesn't offer the _option_ of doing the equivalent of a graphics screen dump for printing web pages, considering that what they've done thusfar just plain hasn't worked on a lot of systems.

I have tried printing the home page you mention with a 80% scale factor and the result is better than in previous Opera releases. Maybe finetuning the scale factor will give even better results. I use CUPS on my HP 710C GDI printer with generally good results. Tullio

Thanks for the response Tullio. Unfortunately, fiddling with the scale factor has not worked any magic for me.
