I notice in your reply to Oscar, even though his question was not line-wrapped (like this one) yours was. Are you doing this manually yourself when typing on do you know something I don't?

Must be Mail ->manage accounts -> (news account) ->outgoing -> Adjust lines when sending (or similar). Or maybe it is my habit to "auto-wrap" using the Return key :)

There's a check button for "Automatically wrap outgoing messages" but it doesn't give you a character length option, just on or off (neither does it seem to make any difference. Maybe I'll just adopt your 'manual auto-wrap' method, do you have a patent on it.. :-)
