 | After having Opera up for two minutes, the browser apparently closes itself.
No keyboard or mouse input is required for this behavior to occur. As far as I can tell, it is entirely time-dependent.
Using QT static build on RH 7.2.

Have you tried the appropriate shared build?
When you say RedHat 7.2, how much have you updated that? I mean, 7.2 was 2 or 3 years ago now, you might have installed a number of updates ...

I don't believe there is any that is appropriate. That's been the case since 7.50. | | When you say RedHat 7.2, how much have you updated that? I mean, 7.2 was 2 | or 3 years ago now, you might have installed a number of updates ...
I have kept it at 7.2, with RH-supported updates through early 2004, with some 7.3 libraries. I do not feel compelled to reinstall my OS every 60 days. The system is quite stable.
Anyhow, running it from a prompt shows that it's dumping core.
linux:/home/mark 2% opera & [1] 8563 linux:/home/mark 3% [1] Segmentation fault opera (core dumped)
I have eight of 'em, if the Opera folks are interested.

I had a similar problem when I went from version 5 to version 6. I had to relocate the old config directory, ~/.opera, by renaming it to something else. Then start Opera and let it create it fresh. Perhaps it might help for you as well.

Starting opera with "--personaldir " is a simple way of starting without personal preferences.
opera --personaldir new-dir
where "new-dir" is the name of a directory that does not exist, will create "new-dir" and use that instead of $HOME/.opera.
