 | Hello,
I tried to browse through google group archives to find something on this but failed, so here I am. Since yesterday or the day before yesterday perhaps my Opera 7.54 has been failing to load (or rather indefinitely loading) pages which refer to adservers or statservers. In such a case, Opera would display, "connecting to [name of ad/statserver]" on the progress bar and that would be it. Since I also still have Opera 7.23 on my hard drive, I tested this with it and... same thing happens. Moreover, I've downloaded Opera 8 beta--and this one does the very same thing too. What on earth...? For the record, IE has no problems with this, and it's not my firewall either--switched it off to verify, with no result.
Any ideas what the issue might be? Thanks in advance for any help--I'd really hate to give up on the otherwise best browser out there ;)
Regards,
Rafal

Are you using any other software that can interfere? hosts file, proxy servers, url-filtering in Opera, etc.

None that I know of. The only thing I _am_ also using which might have something to do with it is an antivirus scanner. Since these critters tend to include some adblockers in one form or another sometimes, to be double sure I disabled it to see if that would change anything--it didn't. I'm trying to recall if I installed anything possibly relevant on my system in the last few days, but nothing really comes to mind.
