What could be the reason that bookmarklets don't work? I've never tried
them before today, so I have no idea myself, sadly.

For example, none of the 3 del.icio.us bookmarklets work (all more or less
just open my userpage).

At http://nontroppo.org/wiki/BookMarklets most bookmarklets don't work,
although some do. For example, UPPERCASE and highlight work, but Font Size
ones don't. Even Current page on www.archive.org doesn't work, opening a
new page on archive.org with an error message. Many, such as linearize
just open an empty window and nothing happens.

I have JavaScript enabled (and tried enabling all JS options in
preferences/Multimedia). I use Opera 8.0 beta (don't know if that can be
the reason).

Assuming it works for others, what should I do to find out the cause of
the problem?

Most likely these problems are specific for Opera beta.

It does say at the top of non-troppo's page that some of the bookmarklets
may not work on some pages due to CSS. Beyond that, can't say.

How about
Preferences ->Windows->Advanced->Reuse existing pages?

Yes, I think this fixed those bookmarklets that open new pages. Спасибо.
