Why was Frame/Maximize command removed from the context menu? There is
still Open, but Open [re]loads the page, taking more time than needed.
When the frame is loaded, I don't want Opera to spend that time, just get
rid of the rest of the page and display the frame!

It is just a change is name, the option does exactly what it did in Opera
7.5.

Opera now loads the frame, not just redisplays it. It seems to check
something online, because on most pages (the more images they have, the
longer it takes) it takes more time than it used to (a few seconds). So
clearly it's not just a name change, it's taking a good feature and
breaking it (as Opera usually does with each new version).

If you look at 'standard_menu.ini', you'll find that the same action is
performed as in 7.54. Maybe this has to do with the changed support for
'must_revalidate' http headers? Can you try with different framesets?

I think it's the same everywhere, even here
http://wp.netscape.com/assist/net_sites/example1-NF.html

And on pages with more images it obviously takes more time. And on a slow
connection it takes even more time. And on a busy slow connection with
more images it's pretty obvious that Opera Software changed something
besides the name.

I do realise that it's the "same" command, the problem is that "the same
command" was changed itself.

I tried the netscape frameset page while monitoring the log window in
proxomitron and I saw no evidence that frame-open (or frame-open in new
window) makes any call to the server. Frame-reload does.
My 2 cents.

I totally agree with you!

Maximize frame is the feature I really miss from 7.54 days.

I changed mous gesture "GestureDown" from "Open link in new page" to
"Open link in new page | Maximize frame". This means, if you are _not_ o=
n
a link, GestureDown will maximize frame, otherwise open link in new page=
