I found this on a web site the other day:

>In 1953, in a toast before the New York Press Club, John Swinton, former Chief of Staff of the New York Times and the "Dean of his Profession" stated: (part extracted)
>
>"If I allowed my honest opinions to appear in one issue of my paper, before twenty-four hours my occupation would be gone. The business of journalists is to destroy the truth; to pervert; to vilify; to fawn at the feet of mammon, and to sell this country and this race for their daily bread. We are the tools and vessels for rich men behind the scenes. We are the jumping jacks, they pull the strings and we dance. Our talents, our possibilities and our lives are all the property of other men. We are intellectual prostitutes."

5Km/h difference up there means 27Km/h difference down here.

That's interesting, interesting that no1else has commented on it

Yeah, what is all that ad about? I mean have they not heard of a steering
wheel? Most cars have them.

Also it states that *half* the speed is lost in the last 5m. Now I agree
it will take "some time", and distance for the car to get into a full
braking situation. From then on the car is de-acelerating at a given rate.

Sorry, but I think this ad, which is aimed at road safety is is just spin.
Leads me to think that the other road saftey ads are spin also.

True it takes longer to stop from 65Km/h than from 60, all things being
equal. That is the point they should be making.

What he is saying is factually correct, deceleration is *not* constant and
the ability to shave off speed increases as velocity decreases.
