Hi,

I want to run two parallel cable printers off one PC that has only one
parallel printer port.

Is there an auto switch available that I can use to connect up both printers
at once? (one's an A4 laser & the other's an A3 inkjet)

I know you can get them for connecting two computers to one printer, but the
other way?

I'm out of PCI slots to install another parallel port.

cheers,

Nick.

You could use a USB hub with a printer port on it.

I'd recommend getting a 2nd pci printer port card.

It is likely to cost the same or less and will be reliable.

The trouble with printer port sharing (with a switch) is when people forget
to switch and the wrong driver shoots the wrong stuff out to the wrong
printer - pages of garbage.

If you get a pci add in card, it will be able to be used at the same time as
the built in printer. Installation should be dead easy.

"I'm out of PCI slots to install another parallel port." He has no
place to put another PCI card.

Based on my past bad experience with switch boxes I would say your best bet
by far is to replace at least one printer with a model that has a USB
connection (are you sure none of your printers have this option - my two
printers have both connections). Then you will have no connection probs and
merely select the desired printer in the software print box (you select one
as default anyway).
Cheers
