It might just be my friends and I, but I find that(with regards to
alcohol) we all(90%+) drink beer as opposed to practically anything else.

Anyone else find the same?

In nearly any redominantly male group between 15 and 35 you will find 90%
of them prefer beer. It has always been the favourite drug of bikies for
instance.

I know this because I used to sell it to corporates, other bottle stores,
restaurants, bars and the general public at the rate of about 60K per week.

It was a priveleged existence for a while. We would have a structured
tasting about once a week. Might have a guest speaker, might be just us.
Might be wine or a spirit but never beer. I've tried a fair few fine wines.
Unless you drink purely to get pissed, wine cannot be dismissed for an
entertaining drop. Nothing else offers the same complexity of flavours and
aromas.

cheers

I'm only a pseudo-geek.

I'll have a beer in very hot weather but otherwise its good single malt
or small batch bourbon. Neat. The more "sip, light the blue touch paper
and retire to a safe distance" they are the better I like them (and the
longer they last).

Ok, I've just got a good news for you:

Well, perhaps I should modify my drinking habits as well.

I might take a glass of wine, but that's it. Ethanol is dehydrating,
which is not good as a thirst-quencher.

NZ Network Operators' Group. It's a mailing list for network geeks.
Most of the people on it are involved, in some way, with keeping NZ's
'net infrastructure running.

Yup beer is the preferred beverage around here. It has better tasting
fizzy bubbles and froth. Cider doesn't come close to a satisfying
thirst quencher and champaign is all sparkle and no substance [well it
contains alcohol so I guess thats a plus] and wine is just champaign
gone flat. Hmm... now you mention it, must crack a tinnie. Cheers.

beer, vodka, tequi, car-battery acid, anything goes except for whisky
which makes me spontaneously spew.
