i used to be able to browse the internet from my Fedora machine but now
though i can ping other computers its giving me error whenever i open up the
web browser to view a certain page , gives me

www.mysql.com could not be found . Please check the name and try again"

Sounds like your proxy setup is wrong - try edit/preferences in Mozilla.

Is this the same user account? Can you "ping" www.mysql.com by name or
just IP address? Have you tried closing mozilla and opening it again?

If you can ping by IP address and not hostname, it is almost surely
a DNS problem (configuration or it is down or ...).

Hi "oyesiji",
Whatever my limited experience may be worth, I had similar Fedora
problems when first trying to go on line. Sometimes I was obviously on
line but no URL:s could be found by the browser. On other occasions
"Error message 6/or 8" came up (no explanation what they meant). In the
end. everything worked OK if I:
1. Deleted everything I had struggled with in "Applications - system
tools - internet configuration wizard"
2. Started afresh in "Applications - system settings - network".
