 | Check to make sure they are both in the same Workgroup for starters.

 | I have posted previously to this website about samba connection problems once SP2 is installed onto a Windows XP machine, have yet to find a workable solution. If your problems occurred after installing SP2, you might want to uninstall it and see if that corrects the problem. If you have not installed SP2, think about what you may have changed recently on either of the machines.
Basic things to look into:
GENERAL: Are both machines in the same workgroup? If not edit either the smb.conf on Linux or from Windows goto My Computer --> Properties --> Computer Name Tab --> Change to make sure they are in the same workgroup.
GENERAL: How is name resolution being handled? If you cannot reach the remote machine by name can you reach it by IP?
LNX: Run "service smb status" on the linux machine to make sure Samba is running.
LNX: Run "smbclient -L " from the linux machine and see what it reports back. Alternatively you can use Redhat Start Menu --> Network Servers.
WIN: Check that File and Print Sharing enabled under Windows.
GENERAL: Can you get to SMB shares on from the same machine you are on? Example in on winhost can you get to \\winhost\knownwinshare? If you are on linhost can you get to smb://linhost/knownlinshare?
LNX: Goto the RedHat Start Menu --> System Settings --> Security Level and check to make sure your firewall is not causing any problems.
WIN: Check whatever 3rd party or SP2 firewall settings may be misconfigured.
The more info you give the more others can provide help.
