the Washington Nationals major league baseball team and the past Washington
DC baseball teams including the former Senators, Nationals, Grays, and
Statesmen.
The newsgroup will not be moderated.

Justification:
The new major league Washington Nationals baseball team (formerly the
Montreal Expos) has generated great interest among baseball fans in the
Washington DC metro area. This group is for those fans and others who want
to discuss Washington baseball including the present and past teams of the
city.
A scan of messages in Google Groups in the two months from 21-Nov-2004 to
21-Jan-2005 showed 608 relevant posts discussing (not just mentioning) the
Washington Nationals baseball team.
The name of this group follows the standard naming convention of the other
Washington DC professional sport teams and the standard naming convention
of other Major League baseball teams.
The formation of this newsgroup has been discussed in alt.config since 10-
Jan-2005.
