 | One of the nicest examples of simulation for a business came some time ago. This is the paper, "Simulation Modeling Improves Operations, Planning, and Productivity of Fast Food Restaurants", by William Swart and Luca Donna. This can be found in the book, "Simulation of Waiting-line Systems", ed. by Susan L. Solomon, Prentice-Hall, 1983. This paper shows how not only simulation but other aspects of OR helped Burger King to design various restaurants (LP - the Ware House problem, for example).
I teach simulation every semester and I give this to my students to read the first week.
