 | We're contemplating a trip to the North Channel from our home port in Marblehead, Ohio on Lake Erie in our Doral 330 express cruiser for next year. Had planned to do so this year in July but the weather was bad for the two weeks we had planned on. Is it reasonable to go in September? We don't mind if the temperature is a little chilly as long as there is less chance of high wind and rain...
Any helpful info is appreciated.

The North Channel of Lake Huron has been my favourite vacation destination for the last 15 years. I too have a Doral and these boats are well suited for the voyage to the north. The weather can be good or bad at any time of the year but I have found that the earlier in the season, the better the weather. If you leave the trip to late September or into October the evenings can be a little chilly. Most of the North Channel Cruising can be done in any weather as there are great ports to stay in when the weather is bad for a day or two. There are also hundreds of very safe and secure anchorage's to be had in the North. I would highly recommend checking this site. www.glcclub.com for more information and I would suggest that you should join this group for their log books and charts,
