Man, I've got to remember this newsgroup more often. I get so behind in my
reading. I missed out on all this good halloween chat. I LOVE halloween,
and spent more than a month preparing for it. By halloween night, I had
made about a dozen grave markers ( some bigger than me), a small tomb, 2
occupied coffins, one faceless reaper, and three lifesize paper mache dead
ladies... ( a bride and 2 maids). I set up blue lighting, actual 'props'
from some cemeteries ( donated) , like flowers, candles, and an actual
cemetery sign. I'd remixed two audio tapes for background music that would
fit the scene, without being the same old stuff people usually use. I
could've used Dancetimes help on THAT part :) . I dressed up my 3 boys
as scary things, then booted them out the door to go trick r treating, then
I sat down in my own mask behind a coffin, and spent the next 3 hours
scaring the willies out of kids and their parents. They had to open the
coffins to get to the candy....two different choices...both creepy. I'm
already planning next years...... Here is a link to a Disney-Paris
attraction site for its haunted mansion. The host (in Denmark) lets me post
my pictures on his site and bulletin board. You can see some of the pics of
that nite. Careful those with slow modems, there are about a dozen large
pictures. Sorry I didn't get this here sooner.

Gosh Dora what do you do when the kids come calling? Or do you go out?
I'm not a lover of Halloween either but I do decorate a little and give out
candy. I had droves of the little munchkins this year.
Guess because it was a Sunday and we had warmer weather.

Best regards,

Jackie

I hand out candy....
I love the little tots. Like to take my time with them.
Of course most of the kids that came by this year were teenagers.
Then every day after when i saw tots with parents I had more candy for them.
(as they passed by my home)
Finally i saw three approx grade six or seven gals walking by and i gave
them the big bag of chocolate bars i had left over
><

And I had some too, Tom. I attended / played Karaoke at a Halloween Party in
Ottawa's East end, and had the tunes chosen to fit most appropriately. I
recommend for anyone who wants music for Halloween, to start thinking and
looking well in advance. Its not just hard to find, but hard to remember all
those Halloween type Radio hits too, like Monster Mash, and Thriller. Then
there are the scarey sounds.. Banshee's howling and the sound of kids
screaming..

Yee haw

The music I used was a mix of classical, folk, celtic, and movie
soundtracks. Nothing was recognizable to the average person. I went
through dozens of CDs that focused on single and duel instruments ( pianos,
flutes, harps, violins, keyboards, bagpipes....). No singing, electric
guitars or rythmic drumbeats. I had the music play as something people
heard a long time ago and now are hearing it drifting out over the
graveyard. Worked not too bad. I got two full tapes made for the night,
and I'll start making next years soon, as I've found many of the CDs very
interesting to listen to.

I liked the teens and kids parents dropping by. They are my intended
victims, and the little ones get much lighter treatment. No mercy on the
big people !

Oh, I'm looking forward to next year. I'll probably be working on mine and
a volunteer haunted house ( I was approached about it). If I do the haunted
house, my wife will probably be greatful :)

I would have been interested in hearing that Tom. Only thing I thought of
with Multiple Instruments was the Soundtrack from the Exorcist, the famous
"Tubular Bells"' which seems to have all the *good* sounds to create a
scarey imagination.

A couple of soundtracks I used were from the movies " What dreams may come"
and " The Mothman Prophecies". Some examples of movie tracks I would like
to hear would be from :

Edward scissorhands The Abyss Braveheart nightmare on
elmstreet apocalypse now

Something wicked this way comes artificial intelligence We
were soldiers city of angels

Six Sense big fish the Secret Garden The Haunting
( B/W) Cider house rules

I could probably add on 50 more. Old westerns , mushy chick flick movies,
and some childrens movies have the sounds I'm looking for. An old wind up
music box playing in a movie for a scene of children playing has a
comepletely different mood when heard at night in a graveyard. Funeral
scenes in westerns, or dramatic speeches have good background music too.
Yep, I better startsoon. I've got a lot of work to do on the next sound
track if I want the mood to be more haunting than last Octobers.

Obsessed..........no ???
