My bookkeeper and three members of her church are going to Vancouver for a
church conference. They are going January 31st 2004 - it is the North
American Presbytery conference.

Does anyone know of good tours to go on while there are there - for 6 days.

Hi Doug:
Can't speak for Vancouver, but I was in Victoria for a week in November.
The office of Tourism Victoria is at the corner of Wharf and
Government streets, directly across the road from the Empress Hotel. I
found their staff to be extremely friendly and informative. Their
toll-free number is: 1-800-663-3883.

Both Vancouver and Victoria also have excellent web sites with all kinds
of information for potential visitors: "www.tourismvictoria.com" and
"www.tourismvancouver.com". Your colleagues will be able to pick and
choose from a variety of activities and price ranges.

When they get to Vancouver---pay a couple hundred--stay on the
plane--continue to
Hawaii. Come to Vancouver in January, those Prebyterions such jokers!

A man of your condition and age should probably check with his Dr. before
attempting
any ride!

One of the "must sees" when they are in Victoria is butchart Gardens - also
Victoria has an excellent web site - http://www.tourismvictoria.com which I
would encourage you to have them check out - my daughters and I used to love
touring the Royal BC Museum - and UVic has some lovely gardens etc. to see
and the Fairfield area of Victoria is nice - lots of older churchs to look
at and Tea in the Empress! Too bad it's so early cause the inner harbour is
usually set up with artists etc. in the warmer season.
Vancouver has Stanley Park - Seaworld - UBC - Simon Fraser - lots of
museums - Science World and the new history site in gas town.

What to recommend would depend upon what their interests are. Why not rent a
car, splitting the cost, then do the tour that way?
Suggestions:
1. Horseshoe Bay for breakfast...it's by the ocean in a quaint little
bay...ferries come and go to Victoria and other places....scenic trip there
and back...about 1/2 hour (?) drive from Vancouver...
2. Fort Langley-many tourist oriented shops, lots of restaurants, Farm
Museums. About 3/4 hour drive from Vancouver in the Fraser
Valley...http://www.fortlangley.com
3. Take a gondola to the top of Grouse Mountain ski resort....if it is clear
(a big IF) it provides quite a view...I understand they have good food
there...
4. Wonder along the walkway in Stanley Park, as someone has already
mentioned. You may want to bring/buy umbrellas...and BC Cowboy Boots-rubber
boots :) There is a tea shop there, somewhere, not sure if it is open at
this time of year.
5. Visit Granville Island which is in the middle of Vancouver on the
water...lots of shops etc. I haven't been there for years so not sure what
else they may offer.
6. Have them come visit me and I'll show them my compost bins and all my
hard working compost worms! :) As I said, it is hard to know what to
recommend not knowing their interests! :) But there are a few ideas.
Cheers,
Gary
