 | Key phrases ontario small claims court civil defendent did not return personal property upon request caused damages
Hi. I am the plaintiff in the case described in brevity above. A lawyer has euphemistcally said this case is too small ("you're smart and the perfect candidate to puruse this matter on your own"). He's probably correct on the part about the pursing this matter on one's own but not necessarily the the first bit.
1. I'm looking for related case laws that I can cite. Preferrably these would be anything above small claims court level (ie. any other court, haha) that the SCC judge would obligated to follow as precedence. Anything come to mind?
2. What books or websites can one do research on common law, preferrably arranged by category for easier searching? I am already aware of RSC and RSO which can be found in most public libraries but these refer to statutes, not common law.
3. What category would a case such as mine fall under? It isn't "business law" or "family law" for example. So far, research on "property law" have come up with references only to do with real estate or copywrites. I'm trying to narrow the search area once those books or websites become known.
Thanks.
