America is currently experiencing a large increase of health care cost each
year. Many wonder what the reason for this increase is.
This is only a speculation, but I believe that there is a unseen relation
between the quality of our health education and the rising cost of
healthcare.
Recent studies have shown that many of our treatment methods that are being
taught in medicals school are based on old studies that have been
established
for years. It is possible that with additional research for new methods to
treat illnesses we can better train our physicians and health care
providers.
Education is the first step in assuring quality care. It might be possible
to
advance our quality of medical education and research if we were to stop
focusing on space travel and spend those billions on proper training for
those
that save lives.
With better education and training less mistakes might be made, which in
turn
would lessen the cost of malpractice insurance. Hospitals would find that
law
suits that are the result of improper patient care may decrease along the
same
lines. In the end the cost to provide healthcare and operation would
decrease,
so cost to receive these services should to.

This is only a brief thought. Please feel free to provide further thought
about why healthcare cost is increasing.

More people who make it to "senior" status seem to require more health care.
In the U.S. diabetes also seems to be on the rise due to our lifestyle.
I have tried to do my part to lessen this tendency by promoting
reasonable alternative "medicine" in our community. It works pretty well.
Flu visits to the doctor, for example, are pretty much a waste of time. He
hasn't a cure unless he gives some very expensive modern medicines, and he
has to give good advice instead. Time wasted...if the good advice comes from
outside and keeps his office free for people he can clearly help. Flu and
colds more often spread while one is waiting in the outer office, increasing
the load.
This is only one small corner of the problem. We have had occasion to
note that some doctors encourage older ladies to make once or twice a week
visits when it isn't producing much in the way of results, but keeps them
happy that someone is paying attention to them. With the growing numbers of
seniors, this is best avoided where possible.
