 | GAZA, Jan. 15 (UPI) -- At least 45 members of the Palestinian Central Elections Commission in the West Bank town of Ramallah resigned Saturday, Palestinian sources said. Sources told UPI the mass resignation was to protest changes in the voting procedure, which the CEC made under duress during the presidential election last Sunday. The sources, requesting anonymity, said shots were fired at CEC headquarters while commissioners were meeting to discuss a request to extend voting hours. One of the militants involved in the gunfire was recognized as a member of the Palestinian intelligence security forces in the West Bank, the sources said. Neither Palestinian officials nor security intelligence would comment on the report.
