 | Since I'm not allowed to address the local goofball directly, would someone please inform Phil of the following facts regarding these posts:
> Take the Mercury Living Presence series. Some of the best recordings > of all time.
"** Hisssss, sizzle, snap, crackle, pop , hissss, sizzle, rumble, rumble, rumble, hiss , crackle pop ....."
I said "recordings", not pressings. Clearly Phil does not know the difference. Would someone please enlighten him?
> For the record I've never heard the slightest difference between > minidiscs. That's a wank. I've never heard the slightest difference > between interconnects. That's a wank. I HAVE heard a big difference > after damping the top plate of a Marantz CD player.
"** Through headphones ??"
Yes, through heaphones. Would someone please inform Phil that good headphones are more revealing than good speakers for several very obvious reasons. Clearly Phil is only familiar with the $2 bargain store variety.
Thank you.

Phil used to have a very expensive set of headphones, but they wouldn't fit on his head. The model number was something like Extra Super Large.

You are correct. Phil had two sets of electrostatic headphones. Quad ESL57s which were later replaced by a Quad ESL63s. Unfortunately he broke the latter model and returned them to the dealer for a refund. Both models were so big he had to lay on the floor to use them. Since then he has acquired a self assembly kit set from the $2 shop.

How can that possibly be? Agreeing with a comment or two in some of his posts can't possibly constitute "mateship" can it? Mind you, I don't think you have any mates, so anyone that agrees with you is at least temporarily your mate I guess in your estimation????

Would someone please tell Phil, in words of one syllable, that "recordings" and "pressings" are NOTsynonyms but totally separate operations. Recording is the act of capturing an artist's performance on tape. Pressing is the act of manufacturing LPs or CDs. I'm sure even Phil can get it in time, if you're patient enough.

Would someone explain to Phil that there is vibration in a CD player even when no speakers are present in the room. It's caused by the CD mechanism. Explain it gently--we don't want to disturb him from his permanent slumber.

Perhaps someone would like to ask Phil why he's warning me the police are coming when I'm sure he'd prefer they caught me red-handed. Be very interested to hear the answer to that one. ;-) You always know when Phil is outflanked. He tries to change the subject.

No you didn't, Phil. My suburb is listed on every forum I post to, and even you can use a phone book to find a fairly rare name in a small suburb. So what was the point of your post? To suggest you have "private" info you're going to use against me, in the hope I might be shaking in my boots. No, sorry, Phil, you're too transparent; and besides, you've tried the same trick with just about every regular here. Doesn't wash. Folks, just for the record Phil Allison is harbouring a total delusion that I regularly download kiddie , based on no evidence but a totally flippant remark made here by me many moons ago. This is the same Phil Allison who also imagines that Alan runs an illegal home business and takes trips to Thailand for the worst possible reasons, and that TT views on his works computer whilst getting drunk. All these allegations have been made on this NG and countless others against other posters that no one could possibly remember. So welcome, welcome to Phil's Fantastic Fantasyland. You too can take one of these exhiliarating rides just by clashing with Phil about anything at all, no matter how trivial. Just disagree with Phil more than once and next thing he'll be looking up your address and trying to insinuate that your morals are contempible and you're engaged in some illegal activity which he knows about and is on the verge of reporting to the police. This is Phil's modus operandi, which he never varies. Be not afraid, boys and girl(s). Phil is a big bag of foul air which every so often explodes and stinks up the NG. He won't go away, as any other self-respecting human being would, so it's necessary to stick a pin in him every so often whilst holding one's nose. Unfortunate, but then every village has its idiot, and it IS still possible to work around him. I suggest you do exactly that.

Well said Paul. I believe you have summed our PA up to a T. (Apologies Mr.T, but I wasn't making references to you.) Just using a common phrase. :)
The really sad thing is PA is not only a pest in this newsgroup, he has infested many others and contrary to PA's belief he is just as maligned in them as he is here. Everyone is entitled to an opinion and from time to time (perhaps more often than less) there are such differences expressed here.
The big difference between PA and most other posters to this newsgroup is PA seems to think he has to consistently punctuate his posts with profanities and personal abuse. Its like he can't express himself without adding it to his writings. I'm at a loss to explain his actions but I think he would be more accepted if he cut the personal abuse and profanities from his posts. It is no wonder he has become the centre of many a joke on this newsgroup.
Cheers, Alan

I wish what you say was true, Alan, but I doubt it. Phil's problem isn't just profanity but what's behind the profanity: a deep contempt for others. He doesn't just abuse, he denigrates with every word. He clearly hates others as much as himself, and I don't know a quick way out of that particular hole. For all our sakes though, not least his, I hope he finds one.
