I'm in Brisbane (Northside) and I need two leads to connect my DVD and
set-top-box to my receiver.
I pass Stereo-Supplies, JB, Wow, Aldi, K-Mart, DSE, Tandy, Todd's and
Jaycar on my way home.
Anyone know what these cost?
Thanks..... Clem

Jaycar - $19.95 (1 metre) or $27.95 (2 metre). See:

IMO, their quality is almost always better than Dick, Tandy et al for the
same, or less money.

Yeah the Jaycar ones did look better quality but I cheaped out and bought
them from JB Hi Fi (I needed two).
Thanks for your help everybody. (I must be a Luddite. It didn't even
occur to me to look for an on-line catalogue)

(PS. VideoPro's cheapest was $35 for a 2m!)

Nothing cheap about it; the ones JB sell aren't the most
ruggedly-constructed optical cables ever made, but if you're just going to
plug them in and forget them, why waste money on something that provides
durability you don't need?

They come even more expensively than that, too; there's a whole cottage
industry of companies selling ridiculously overpriced optical cables under
the pretense that their "special audiophile" cable is actually going to
sound better. Which of course ignores one simple fact: digital is digital
is digital. All optical cables sound *exactly* the same, whether they cost
$13 or $500+...

My thinking eggs-zachary!
If you're using something portable like a md-player them the quality of
cord might be a factor, but if it's just sitting quietly in the one spot
for the next five years......
Thanks again for the help folks.
