IzArc (http://www.izsoft.dir.bg) will extract RAR files. And it's free.

I prefer WinAce, a great all in one archive utility.

BTW, if they were zipped WinRAR wouldn't be of much help unless they've
written it to talk to zip's these days. 8]

Its a type of compressed file, it can be opened by Winace, Winrar,
Zipzag.. just to name a few

I just started using 7zip, which handles .rar files nicely. In fact,
better than WinRAR, which I have now un-installed.
