Anyone have an idea as to the cost of a " top end overhaul "

At that sort of price, a second hand motor for around $500 would look
like a really good alternative.

not cheap . gasket set at least 150 . machine work from several
hundred and labour... also several hundred out to 4 or 5 .. unless you
know someone
