When I went to elementary school, I learned that some scientists believe
that global warming helped trigger the Ice Age some 11,000 years ago.
The reason is that the melting North Pole ice cap opened up all that
area and dumped zillions of gallons of ice-cold water into the North
Atlantic. Winds sweeping over that frigid water were cooled and that
caused both lower temperatures and snow.
So in fact, the much colder than average winters we've had here in New
England for the last 3 years running is consistent with the theory of
global warming.
