 | This is about the harmala alkaloids. I have read that syrian rue (Peganum harmala) seeds contain harmala that is a MAOI. MAOI are anti-depressants as you know. I have tried taking ground seeds (about 1g ingested daily) in a period now when I'm feeling quite low and depressed. Strange thing is that on the first day, I felt quite good and energetic, I also was more talkative and outgoing, good effects lasted until the evening. But on subsequent days, it had no effect on me (it rather had the opposite effect, sometimes exasperating the depression). However when I stop taking it for like a few days and then take the morning dose, it works well again, well for just one day... I wonder if anyone has used syrian rue here (alone or in combinations) and what experience did they have?
