This dream sounds like I made it up:

I'm visiting Bill Cosby and his family. He's very sweet and laid back --
much quieter than I would have predicted. I'm sleeping on a mattress on his
dining room floor. His house was very ordinary -- on a cul-de-sac in a
suburban neighborhood. When we arrived he was trimming a Japanese oak in
his front yard. Stacey Whaley showed up and decided to spend the night.
She borrowed some clothes from Bill Cosby's college-age daughter.

Later I'm at a hotel and I walk into a long, narrow room with a hardwood
floor. Steven Tyler is there with Aerosmith. They are going to practice in
the room, but the floor is very dirty. I ask them if they want me to find
some brooms, and they say yes. The janitor is very fussy about his brooms,
and I'm not allowed to use them. To encourage him to let me borrow the
brooms, I lead him into the room where Aerosmith is waiting, but now the
room has grown larger and there's a party going on in there. The floor is
clean now anyway, and I can't find Steven Tyler, only the less-recognizable
band members. Oh well. I see Dr. Laura, the obnoxious radio talk show
host, who gives out bad advice and insults. She is milling around in a
circle with many others. For some reason I start giving her childrearing
advice. She finds this annoying, but she reacts with more self-control than
I would have expected.
----------
Interpretation notes: I saw Stacey's handle in alt.zen asking a question.
I have been lurking there for weeks. I sent her an e-mail giving her the
scoop on who's a nut and who will likely answer her question usefully. I
don't exactly know why I think so, but that's what I think inspired this
dream. I suppose I like Bill Cosby fine, but I'm not really an Aerosmith
fan (music lacks subtlety and complexity), and I hate Dr. Laura.

Comments and interpretations welcome. : )

Woohoo! Someone dreams about me. ;)

"His house was very ordinary -- on a cul-de-sac in a
suburban neighborhood."

Maybe you dreamed of an ordinary house because in the old Bill Cosby show
his house was fairly ordinary.

"Stacey Whaley showed up and decided to spend the night."

Stacey's always ready for a good party at a celebrity's house. :)

"Steven Tyler is there with Aerosmith."

In December 2003 I went to see Aerosmith in concert.

"The janitor is very fussy about his brooms,
and I'm not allowed to use them."

Have you by any chance seen the movie Terminal, lately? The one with Tom
Hanks?

"I saw Stacey's handle in alt.zen asking a question.
I have been lurking there for weeks."

It's funny how life causes us to meet yet again. We must be living in a
very non-euclidean world.

Cool dream. (Well... I had a role!)

Oh I'm sure somebody else is dreaming about you.

Could be. But it was even more ordinary -- and much smaller-- than the
Cosby show house. Also Bill was uncharacteristically quiet. I think he
probably represented someone in alt.zen.

> "Stacey Whaley showed up and decided to spend the night."

I think I dreamed that because I was already lurking in alt.zen (Bill
Cosby's house) and you showed up. You "borrowed clothes" when you asked for
advice.

Oh. Sorry I blasphemed them. I actually like the band, but the music just
doesn't do a whole lot for me. Blame it on hanging out with the jazz guys
in music school. When I want screaming guitars I go for King Crimson.

Yeah. I think I am the only person in the world who *hated* that movie. So
we don't share taste in music and movies. There's always literature. : )

Well -- I followed you into alt.poetry because I saw you had cross-posted,
and I was curious about what was going on in there.

Yay! I thought it was a riot. And I don't think I'm alone in dreaming
about folks from usenet. After Dick Silk and Marco McLean had that little
dispute I think Marco dreamed Dick Silk was an evil cartoon bull. : ) That
gave me a good chuckle. I asked Marco about it but he wisely stayed mum.

Pray tell what kind of dream, though. *giggles* Dare I ask!

I haven't seen a Cosby show since the 80s when I was a kid, I think. I
wouldn't mind watching some reruns for good time's sake.

Yeah, since Zen in general seems to be quiet-oriented, that is very possible
that he represented someone from over there.

I think it's uncanny how we end up in similar places on web. Hello again,
Dr. Jung.

Don't worry about blaspheming them. At that time that was who I was into,
and mainly because my best friend wanted to go to the concert. My music
varies as much as the color spectrum. I like mostly new age, classical, and
world as well as trip-hip, down-tempo, and soundtrack music. Oh, did I
mention rock, too? :)

Hmmm... I've never heard of King Crimson. I will have to check them out.
Do you think they'd be someone I'd like? I can tell you go for the jazz
types. :)

So

I was thinking that maybe you dreamed about the fussy janitor because of the
janitor in the Terminal movie. I liked the movie, although it's not a
favorite. I'm more for the King Arthur, Troy, Crouching Tiger, Hidden
Dragon, Hero -type movies. My favorite is Whale Rider, and I love Winged
Migration and Baraka. (House of Flying Daggers is out in theatres now. I
might go see it tomorrow.)

Literature, oh boy. I could name a hundred things in litature I like.
Mostly the classic authors. My favorite books are Wuthering Heights,
Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux, Slammerkin, Cry to Heaven, although
the last two aren't classic authors.

I like poetry, too. But you already knew that. ;)

It seems to be a nice place although there is one character in there (a
troll?) that seems to have already caused two people to leave the group.

It seems there are several fellows of the "mum" type in here. I don't know
why. But, it does seem funny that we dream about each other. Maybe it is
because this is one of our social rings and we consider each other to be
friends, and if not friends then at least pleasant acquaintances.

Oh unfortunately he might speak up.

Oh the jazz guys were just available at the time. It was them or frat boys.
The classical players never had any pot : ) I actually didn't marry one.
My husband is as tone deaf as he is sweet and adorable. Oh, and even my
7-year-old loves King Crimson. They're amazing. It's hard to describe.

I think he probably represented one of the trolls in alt.zen who are the
reason that I don't post there.

My favorite movie is probably O Brother Where Art Thou? I loved Crouching
Tiger... We haven't gotten to see a whole lot of grownup movies lately,
mostly because I usually can't get my son to bed before 9:00 and Jeff
usually goes to bed at 10:00, though I'm a night owl.

I haven't read these two. I'll look for them. I used to have a rule that I
would only read books by dead people and Kurt Vonnegut : ) Though I did
make an exception for the Hitchhiker's Guide series by Douglas Adams, and I
have since joined a women's book club so I had to read a lot of books by
living authors. I think I read all of the Bronte sisters' books. Have you
read Jane Austen? Emma is my favorite, but they're all good. I think my
favorite book right now is The Reader by Bernard Schlink. I loved Herman
Hesse. By the time I was your age I think I had read all of his books. And
Aldous Huxley. (They were both dead, so I wasn't breaking my rule.)

ggamble. I just killfiled him on entering, so I never see any of that stuff
unless someone replies to it.

Oh, everybody's your friend. You're one of the cool kids.
