We already responded back in August to the "Ford is innocent! It's
just that the car was unsafe!" claims below showing how little
sense there is to the claims. What we did not know then
was that on top of all the other points (e.g., most companies
would salivate at the thought of their customers beating
their door down _begging_ for a car so why not make
a safe version of the electric car, if the original really was
unsafe..? Duh!) on top of those points, Ford made
the _same_ claim about the EV1 and then_retracted_ its
claim that the car was unsafe! See

http://www.evworld.com/view.cfm?section=article&storyid=798

So either the similar claims about the Th!nk are false,
or at the very least, it's Case Closed as far as "would
they stoop to claiming some car is unsafe as an excuse"
because that's what they did with EV1...then retracted..

So next time if it looks like putting our children's
future and environment behind business as usual, if it smells like
profits over people, if it
smells like corporate doubleTalk, etc, then even if
you can't immediately reply to some assertion out of
the blue that makes the company seem innocent,
know that, chances are, it's _exactly_ what is looks,
smells, walks, and talks like..

/ Isn't it interesting that ED, who touts his posts as the "full,
honest
/ picture", failed to mention this little tidbit from

:

/ > It doesn't meet crash impact standards.

/ In short, it's unsafe. A deathtrap. A lawsuit waiting to happen. A
/ Pandora's box of pain, misery, twisted limbs and [blah blah blah]

:The Think was given a government waiver that expires soon. It doesn't
meet crash impact standards" as noted as with countless other
(with far less customers-beating-down-your-door enthusiasm) they
could have redesigned the same electric engine with a safer body.

In fact the article even admits what the real reason is, nothing
remotely, remotely to do with car safety, and more with
herb pack mentality (also more friendly to the powerful
oil industry) namely,

"Ford has decided to abandon electric cars in favor of other kinds of
alternate fuel vehicles. "

Comprende?? "Has decided to abandon _electric cars_" so no BS
about Th!nk was or wasn't unsafe or could or could not be
redesigned. That's why they lied about the Ford EV being unsafe
then _retracted_ it, because as the same article cited by
"I don't get paid off by the Auto Industry, I just post
as if I were" Roy, they simply "decided to abandone [all] electric
cars"
which of course would give Americans the freedom to never ever visit
a gas station again (it's easy to make your own electricity,
harder to make your own hydrogen..)
