What's with the *fake* reply post (by using "Re:" in your *originating*
post)? The References header is missing in your "reply" to point back
to a parent post. "If the message is submitted in response to another
message (e.g., is a follow-up) the default subject should begin with the
four characters "Re:", and the "References" line is required" (RFC 1036,
2.1.4 Subject).

A couple of suggestions:
- Turn off your vibrating seat cushion.
- Stop chewing crunchy food while trying to read the screen.
- Get used to the laptop bouncing around in the car.
- Let the kid go to the bathroom on which you perched your notebook.

Since you did not clarify what you meant by "bouncing web sites" then
any guess is correct.

So, what, you're sayhing that vBulletin Gateway doesn't comply with RFC
standards regarding Usenet posting? Nah, couldn't be some hack job
isn't compliant. From
http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=65152, "This hack
provides a gateway from vBulletin forums to the USENET. It allows forum
members to read newsgroup messages as well as to send posts to the
newsgroups. In a nutshell, it turns vBulletin forums into a basic
function news reader." So it is a very crappy and non-compliant NNTP
client. Geez, even newbies seem to figure out how to use OE, Forte,
Thunderbird, and other NNTP agents. Maybe you meant, "Oh, a post from
one of those, um, low-wattage usenet-challenged forum users."

Did I say that? No, I didn't.

I'm now saying the OP was posted in the vBulletin forum, and never made it to
Usenet for some reason. Had you seen the link,
http://www.iamnotageek.com/showthread.php?t=805890 you would have noticed that.

I'm well aware of what that mod does. I was looking into vBulletin for one of
my sites. I don't want to pay the ridiculous price for the software though. I
installed pHPbb with a similar mod and it seems to work pretty well. The
problem with integrating "flat" web forums with Usenet is the threading gets out
of sync. sometimes.

It's not really a client per se. more of a portal.

Judging by all the dumb ass questions that get asked in 24houridiot.fuckupdesk,
I would have to disagree with you.

No. I meant exactly what I wrote, I copied the relevant part of the posting
header. It explained to you why "What's with the *fake* reply post" was an
invalid statement.

It has "Re:" in the Subject so it's a reply. But wait, it has no
References header so it's not a reply. It's not a fake reply if it
doesn't have the References header because it's not a reply, but yes it
was a reply and hence the "Re:" prefix in the subject and the body
showing it was a reply. It is, it's not.

Lots of Nixies like to point out that OE has its faults as an NNTP
client. Well, now I can point at portaled posts and say, "Well, it's
not as bad as them."
